Nintendo Shocks Fans with End of My Nintendo Gold Points Program

Nintendo enthusiasts, brace yourselves for a significant change coming to the digital gaming landscape! The beloved Gold Points program, a cherished reward system that has incentivized gamers to purchase digital titles on the Nintendo Switch, is coming to an end. On March 24, 2025, players will no longer be able to earn Gold Points on digital content purchases, marking a bittersweet farewell to a feature that many have relied on for discounts on the Nintendo eShop.

The announcement, while disappointing, comes with a silver lining. Until the cutoff date, consumers can still earn Gold Points by making purchases at the Nintendo New York store. This is a final opportunity for fans to rack up those points before they disappear. Nintendo expressed gratitude for the support of the My Nintendo Rewards program, encouraging players to continue enjoying the remaining features of this initiative.

But there’s more to consider! For those who pre-order digital content before 9:30 PM PDT on March 24, 2025, you’ll still be able to earn Gold Points, as long as your transaction is completed before the deadline. The points for these pre-orders will be credited to your account the day after your payment processes. Additionally, if you purchase a physical version of a game released on or before the cutoff date, you can still earn Gold Points even after March 24, 2025, provided the purchase is made within a year of the game’s release.

This transition may leave some feeling nostalgic for the days of accumulating points with every digital purchase, but it’s a reminder of how quickly the gaming landscape can change. What do you think about this move? Will you miss the Gold Points program? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
